Welcome to GeerCrest Farm & Historical Society

GeerCrest Farm & Historical Society is a non-profit charitable organization, established in 2007 to preserve the history of the Geers and their descendants, the farm and its surrounding area in the Waldo Hills of the Willamette Valley in Oregon.

It was first settled in 1848 by pioneers Ralph & Mary Geer, whose contribution to the unfolding of community life, economic development and political maturation of Oregon is noteworthy. Their descendants continued to add to the rich history of the Geers and their place, including world-renowned political cartoonist Homer Davenport, who spent much time at the farm during his growing up years and considered it his true home. The farm is currently maintained and managed by the fifth generation of Geer relations. Two buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a State Heritage Tree graces the property.

The Board of Directors is a group of volunteers who share the commitment to promote a renewed understanding and appreciation of the vital connection between community and the farm. We are doing this by preserving the history of the place and its people. It is also our intention to include in our preservation effort the history of the land and its stewards of both the native and agrarian culture.
