Patty Parks-Wasserman joins us from New Mexico. As the Farm Elder, Patty brings life experience, compassion, patience, wisdom, and diversity to the multi-generational farm family. Patty is a Permaculture Diplomat, who founded the Institute of Permaculture Education for Children in 2006, and held Permaculture Design Certificate courses at UNM. She is a passionate permaculture educator who has worked extensively with children and youth in a wide range of educational settings, and trains teachers in bringing permaculture into the classroom. She is currently creating the Anytown Food Forest Project, and worked with Albuquerque Open Space in the development of a two acre public food forest, involving public schools. She also applies her BA in Spanish, studies in science, engineering and education, her experience teaching public middle school science in the farm education programs.
She is delighted to be the mother of three gentle-hearted and critically thinking young adults. Thriving in the farm family life, joyfully finding innumerable ways to weave in her work and life experience, appreciating the creativity that comes from living a life at the intersection of nature, education, a rich history and an agrarian -whole community- life at this momentous time. Favorite Geercrest Farm animal? the students - our teachers and co-creators!
